Standing Strong

Earning respect for standing firm on my beliefs even when it's unpopular

I was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2012 serving the residents of Forest Park, Morrow, Lake City, College Park, and Riverdale.  I have been a bi-partisan leader for eight years, working with both liberals and conservatives to protect special needs students HB 614 (signed 2016), to support single parents HR 279 (signed 2018), and to develop a $45 million grant for Clayton County (school board, cities, and county) due to the inability to collect jet fuel taxes.  I also authored legislation to reform Georgia’s education funding formula, and co-sponsored over a dozen bills to improve the lives of Georgians that have been signed into law.

I instrumented the development of a House Study Committee to support Georgia farmers through the revitalization of the Atlanta State Farmers Market (Atlanta/ Clayton County Produce Terminal & Market)  developed a special House Committee to engage stakeholders across Georgia on school redesign and have served on over twenty-one committees, state commissions and non-profit boards.

Momma gets it done

A single mom keeping the legacy of the family business

I am a proud native of Southside Atlanta as an alumni of Southside Comprehensive High School and Fulton High School (Go Lasers & Redbirds!) I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and an alumni of Fort Valley State College and Georgia State University. I am the managing partner with Val Promotions, LLC and Georgia Youth Career Center, LLC. I am a bi-monthly host of WCEG Talk Radio Issues and Answers, substitute teacher, advocacy trainer, and public speaker.

Our family founded Stovall’s T-Shirts in the 1980’s within our childhood home in southeast Atlanta and provided custom promotional printing for 30 years to over 750 clients including education institutions, businesses, governmental agencies, family reunions, churches and more.

In 1991, I was instrumental in developing retail operations for the Georgia Dome and was Managing Partner & Chief Financial Officer for Stovall Enterprises, Inc. where I led retail operations for 14 years with 21,000 contractors for clients including the NFL Atlanta Falcons, SEC Championship Games, two NFL Super Bowls, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Atlanta Hawks, Motorsport Events, The Rolling Stones, U2, the 1996 Olympics, Coco Cola/Lakewood Amphitheater, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and  University of Georgia Stanford Stadium.

I have raised two kids (Lovett & Kristy) and they kept me busy as PTA President for their elementary and middle schools and as Secretary & Treasurer of Atlanta Council of PTAs where I was a recipient of the Apple Core Service Award. I also co-founded a community festival with 5,000 in attendance for their middle and high schools to raise money for band and extracurriculars.
